DIN Metric Heavy Series (S) — 24° Cone

DIN heavy-series (S) fittings share the 24° cone principle with the light series but pair thicker tube walls and different threads for high-pressure European circuits — the metric counterpart to spiral-hose duty.

Identify it

Four checks at the bench.

  1. 01

    Metric thread, often 1.5 or 2 mm pitch, heavier hex than L-series

  2. 02

    24° cone; DKOS hose ends carry the O-ring cone nose

  3. 03

    Match thread to tube OD on the S-series chart (thread ≈ tube OD + 8 mm)

  4. 04

    Pressure class on the union body often reads 400–630 bar

Don't confuse it with…

  • L-series threads on adjacent sizes overlap (M16×1.5 is 10L *and* 8S) — always confirm with the tube OD
  • JIC conversions need dedicated adapters; the cone angles (24° vs 37°) never interchange

Why does M16×1.5 appear in both L and S charts?

Thread diameter alone doesn't define a DIN fitting — the series pairs thread with tube OD and wall. M16×1.5 is 10L or 8S; the mating union decides.

Can A1 build hoses with DKOS ends?

Yes — light and heavy metric O-ring cone ends are stocked for braid and spiral hose, including interlock versions for 4- and 6-spiral.
