Hose specification
SAE 100R1 / EN 853 1SN
SAE 100R1 is the single-wire-braid hydraulic hose for medium-pressure service — return lines, case drains, and light circuits. Working pressure runs from about 3,265 psi at -4 down to 1,300 psi at -16; it is not a pressure-line hose on modern high-pressure machines.

| -6 (3/8") | 2,600 psi |
| -8 (1/2") | 2,325 psi |
| -10 (5/8") | 2,175 psi |
| -12 (3/4") | 1,825 psi |
| -16 (1") | 1,300 psi |
Working pressures per the published standard with 4:1 minimum burst safety factor. The assembled hose + fitting combination governs the final assembly rating.

SAE 100R1 / EN 853 1SN — FAQs
Is R1 hose OK for my excavator's pressure lines?
Almost never — modern pressure circuits exceed R1 ratings above the smallest sizes. R1 belongs on returns and drains; pressure lines want R2, R12 or better.
What does the AT in R1AT mean?
A thin cover designed for crimping without skiving. Practically all modern braid hose is the AT type.
