Hose specification
SAE 100R15 — 6,000 PSI Constant
SAE 100R15 is the 6,000 psi constant-working-pressure spiral hose — the specification modern high-tonnage excavators and high-pressure systems are plumbed with. Every size carries the full 6,000 psi rating with a 4:1 safety factor.
Working pressure
Ratings by size.
| Size | Working pressure |
|---|---|
| -8 (1/2") | 6,000 psi |
| -10 (5/8") | 6,000 psi |
| -12 (3/4") | 6,000 psi |
| -16 (1") | 6,000 psi |
| -20 (1-1/4") | 6,000 psi |
| -24 (1-1/2") | 6,000 psi |
Working pressures per the published standard with 4:1 minimum burst safety factor. The assembled hose + fitting combination governs the final assembly rating.

SAE 100R15 — 6,000 PSI Constant — FAQs
Is R15 overkill for my machine?
If the circuit spec sheet says 5,000+ psi working pressure or the OEM plumbed it with R15/4SH, no. Downgrading high-pressure mains to save a few dollars is how hoses become shrapnel.
What fittings go on R15?
Heavy interlock ends — commonly code 62 flange heads, heavy ORFS, and DKOS metric. We stock and crimp all three.
